IDS 2025 in Cologne
Every two years, the International Dental Show serves as an industry meeting place where pioneering technologies for a digitalized and networked dental world for companies, practices and laboratories are presented. In 2025, this meant that 2,010 exhibitors from 61 countries were able to present ideas and solutions to their interested audience on 180,000 m² of exhibition space spread over seven halls. The customer wanted a high-performance and, above all, redundant network for its trade fair stand at the IDS in Cologne. The requirements went far beyond a back-up power supply and involved the coordination of the various components in the stand planning before and during construction.
The implementation
Cooperation and multiple consultations with the stand builders and other trades took place not only virtually, but also in on-site meetings. This enabled personal communication to ensure that everything ran smoothly. In the end, the team spent five days just laying the network cables. One of the system integrators spent the last four days before the start of the trade fair on the final configuration of the individual components installed.

The result
In the end, 243 network cables – the equivalent of almost five kilometers – with 500 endpoints and two firewalls as well as a back-up power supply were used to set up a high-performance and, above all, redundant network infrastructure for the trade fair stand.
